Jeffrey Cerciello is ready to get back into the Bay Area restaurant scene. The former right hand man to Thomas Keller left his gig as director of the TKRG’s casual dining division (Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery and Ad Hoc) in January 2010 to open Farmshop in Santa Monica. After some delays, he’s finally got that restaurant/gourmet market up and running, and now he’s looking to ramp up Farmshop #2 — in Marin.
Farmshop will be located in the Marin Country Mart in Larkspur, alongside tenants like Three Twins, Miette and coming soon, El Huarache Loco. Construction is expected to begin in early 2012, with an opening currently estimated for fall 2012.
Unlike the original Farmshop in LA, this NorCal branch will only be a restaurant, running roughly 75-100 seats (and 30 at the bar) in a big 7,000 square foot space, 2,000 which will be a private dining area. Cerciello says they toyed with the idea of a market, too, but ultimately decided that there are so many great marketplaces in the Bay Area already. While the “small, well edited” menu will be similar to the LA one, Cerciello says that he might incorporate a few Italian and Mediterranean flairs.
Cerciello’s wife Kira Cunningham (yes, Laura’s sister) will design the space with Commune Design, who did the LA branch.
